Many of you will have heard of Barry Island by the famous Gavin & Stacey comedy TV series set in South Wales, with large parts of it filmed on Barry Island. It has drawn in many visitors each year, putting Barry Island on the Map!
Barry Island draws in visitors all year round, with its three beaches, cafes, restaurants, RNLI Visitor Centre, Tourist Railway, War Museum, Adventure Golf, play areas and not forgetting Barry Island Pleasure Park for those of you who are thrill seekers.
Many visitors come to Barry Island for the large stretches of sand and sea, so if you’re planning on spending time at the beach why not rent one of the fabulous colourful beach huts. You can rent them for half a day, or a full day and they have two sizes to choose from. They make the perfect base for you to enjoy the beach and give you a bit of down time away from the elements. The perfect treat for your day at the beach.
If you’re looking for something a little different whilst at Barry Island we recommend a visit to the Tourist Railway. You can learn about the history of the railway and journey on a real locomotive, making it a great experience for all the family and train enthusiasts alike. In the same location you will find the Barry War Museum, this is also an interesting visit as you can step back in time and see what an air raid shelter and a wartime trench would have been like. Barry Island really does have something for everyone!
